Back to School- Acupuncture for Kids!

We are all excited to get back to school! Summertime is transitioning to late summer and fall and hopefully everyone is rested and ready to take on this school year with enthusiasm. If the younger members of the family need a boost, check out how Root Therapies can help kids feel their best! Details in the article below. Please make an appointment for our Kid's Acupuncture Clinic Saturday, August 24 from 10am-1p.

Why Pediatric Acupuncture?

According to Johns Hopkins University, Pediatric Acupuncture can help your child by:

+Triggering the body’s own self-healing mechanisms.

+Stimulating your child’s brain to produce his or her body’s own endorphins.

+Calming down the sympathetic nervous system.

+Influencing how the brain interprets pain signals.

+Relaxing muscles, tendons and ligaments.

+Increasing blood flow, bringing more oxygen to tissues.

+Decreasing the number of medications needed.

Does Acupuncture Hurt?

Acupuncture needles are hair thin and may feel like a tiny sensation when the needles are first put in. At Root Therapies, Dr. Jessica Fritz also uses non-insertion tools to stimulate the acupuncture points without needles at all. We treat infants through teens and it is our goal to make sure the treatment is enjoyable, effective and painless.

What has Dr. Jessica Treated for Kids?

Everything from allergies to acne! Since Chinese medicine is a whole system of medicine, any issue can be alleviated with acupuncture, herbs, supplements, and when necessary, nutrition and lifestyle changes. Dr. Jessica Fritz assesses each person individually and presents a complete treatment plan including how many acupuncture treatments are recommended, what herbs or supplements will be beneficial and if necessary changes in diet and habits. On a typical week, Dr. Jessica has treated kids with the following:

+ Acne

+ Allergies

+ Anxiety

+ Common cold or cough

+ Eczema or psoriasis

+ Digestive issues

+ Insomnia

+ Stress

+ Immune Issues

+ Menstrual irregularities in teens
